Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that his Chelsea side haven’t been as good as they were expected to be this season.

The Blues are 10th on the Premier League table after 18 games, losing eight in the process, but Pochettino thinks injuries have played a big part in the team’s struggles.

The Argentine has also stated that there is hope that the team will improve and get better with time.

He told Sky Sports: “Obviously we would have liked to be in another position at this point of the season, I can’t say otherwise. I have to be honest and admit that I am evaded.

“Not frustrated, we knew it would be tough, but circumstances didn’t work out in our favour. The injuries had an impact, they did not allow us to develop as we would have liked, but I have no doubt that later on we will be in the position we deserve.

“The sporting director and I always talk, if there is a need to do something we will do it. The idea is always to bring young talents into the squad and in this sense we have different types of objectives, with more or less experience, more or less young. If there is a need to add something we will do it with a common purpose, always for the good of the club.”
