Christopher Nkunku provided Chelsea’s best moment during the 2-1 defeat suffered at the hands of Wolves on Sunday afternoon.
The Frenchman, fresh off an injury rehabilitation programme, made his Premier League debut for the Blues against Gary O’Neil’s men.
Nkunku came on in the second half (after 60 minutes) when Chelsea needed a goal to equalise Matt Doherty’s 51st-minute strike, but it wasn’t until later in added time that he scored— with Wolves already 2-0 up in the encounter.
However, despite scoring a goal, the former RB Leipzig star wasn’t happy to not get a draw at least, and couldn’t hide his disappointment in a post he later made on his social media.
Posting an image of him from the game, the 26-year-old wrote: “Although the result is frustrating I am happy to have scored my first goal in Blue.
“Merry Christmas and see you next week at the bridge.”
It was a very sad outing for Chelsea, but it was definitely very good to see Nkunku score in what was his first league game for Chelsea, despite not starting it. Fans will also be particularly delighted because they’d been waiting for the forward to return to the squad after being away with an injury for many months.
