Gary O’Neil has told his Wolves side they must be at the top of their game, and produce a great all-round performance in order to get a positive result against Chelsea on Sunday.

The Blues will travel to the Molineux to play the Old Gold for the first time this season —  after back to back wins against Sheffield and Newcastle United, and O’Neil is under no illusion of the danger his side have to deal with, with the array of individual talent in Mauricio Pochettino’s team.

He told a press conference on Friday (via wolves.co.uk): “They’ve tried to be the dominant team in every game so far, even against the big lads, as you’d expect with the quality they have. That doesn’t mean that it’s easier, just because we’ve managed to win a couple against the good sides, it’s still a real tough one.

“They’re not a team you’d choose to play, but we understand the challenge and the lads have responded well to the challenges so far and we need them to respond again. It will need to be a complete performance from us, which we’ve managed to produce a couple of times already at home against some of the big sides, but it will need to be again.

“I know the lads are looking forward to it, as am I, and with it being Christmas Eve, there was a mixed feeling around supporters with there being a football match on Christmas Eve, but when it’s on and we’re in the stadium, if we can start the performance in the right way, I’m sure the atmosphere will be absolutely fantastic, like it always is.”
