Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Enzo Fernandez will not be involved in Chelsea’s Christmas Eve game with Wolves away at the Molineux.
The Argentine midfielder was subbed off in the first half of Tuesday’s Carabao Cup quarter-final win against Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge, with what seemed to be a serious injury.
The 22-year-old was also later spotted looking teary, which further gave fans a reason to be worried— and while it’s been confirmed that it is only a hernia problem that he has, Pochettino has also said that the World Cup winner will not be available for this weekend’s game.
“Enzo is going to be out of the game against Wolverhampton,” the Blues boss said in his pre-match press conference on Friday.
“We are going to see if he can be involved again as soon as possible.
“You already have the information that it was a hernia and he also didn’t feel well. We are going to give treatment with the doctor.
“For me, it is not going to be a problem. I think he is going to be as soon as possible again with the group.”
