Chelsea are said to be finalising a deal to sign Senegal midfielder, Pape Daouda Diongue.

This is according to transfer specialist, Fabrizio Romano, who shared an update on the 17-year-old after he was spotted at Stamford Birmingham during Chelsea’s Carabao Cup win against Newcastle United. Ecuadorian teenager, Kendry Paez was also in attendance for the quarter final clash.

Diongue currently plays for Senegalese club, AF Darou Salam, and primarily functions as a defensive midfielder.

Romano wrote on his ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) account: “EXCL: Chelsea are closing in on deal to sign Senegal U17 midfielder Pape Daouda Diong from AF Darou Salam! Deal almost done.

“Pape was pictured at Stamford Bridge yesterday close to Kendry Páez.”

Todd Boehly and his team are clearly serious with their new transfer strategy at Chelsea with all these signings, although like Paez, Diongue can’t join the Blues until he turns 18.
