A good number of people inside Stamford Bridge were unhappy with Moises Caicedo, following his sporting behaviour during the second half of the Carabao Cup win against Newcastle United on Tuesday.

Newcastle took the lead in the first half through Callum Wilson, and were looking to protect it for the rest of the game. However, a sharper-looking Chelsea were desperate for an equaliser in the second half, and kept throwing everything they had at Eddie Howe’s men.

In one of those waves of attacks from Chelsea, Caicedo had to kick the ball out of play as Anthony Gordon went to the ground in need of some medical attention. The Newcastle forward had been on the receiving end of a number of knocks, including from Caicedo, who got booked in the first half for a nasty tackle on the 22-year-old.

The decision to kick the ball off play was however deemed a disappointing one by many of the Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge, and this was evident in the manner they reacted to the gesture.

It is now also being claimed that aside from the fans, some Chelsea players were also unhappy with Caicedo, and they made this clear to the Ecuadorian. This is according to commentators, Seb Hutchinson and Don Goodman, who covered the game for Sky Sports.

Goodman said: “The home fans are absolutely furious, judging by their reaction.”

Hutchinson replied: “So are his teammates by the way.”

The co-commentator then said: “I wonder if he thinks he has caused it. Very sporting.”

Thankfully, Chelsea got their equaliser through substitute, Mykhailo Mudryk very late in the game, and also won the resulting penalty shootout.
