Chelsea’s interim captain, Conor Gallagher is overjoyed with the League Cup win over Newcastle United.
The Blues were 4-2 winners of the intense quarter final clash on Tuesday after Mykhailo Mudryk’s added time equaliser.
Speaking to the media, Gallagher expressed happiness with the fight from his teammates, which he admits has been rare this season.
He said: “I’m buzzing. That was a really good performance. We were battling hard to find a goal and thankfully it came right at the end through Misha’s goal and then we were confident we were going to win the penalty shoot-out.
“I felt we deserved to win the game and obviously everyone is happy. We just had to keep going which we did.
“We had a lot of the ball, a lot of possession and we just had to keep creating the chances which we did and eventually we got one in. It was really good for us to stay focused and keep going. It was frustrating at times but we got what we deserved in the end.
“I loved the scenes at full-time. There haven’t been enough of those moments this season and last season, so hopefully there will be many more.”
