Chelsea goalkeeper, Djordje Petrovic was a hero on Tuesday night, as the Blues booked a place in this season’s Carabao Cup semi-final.
The 24-year-old Serbian hardly put a foot wrong through normal time, and saved a difficult penalty from Matt Ritchie to deny Newcastle United a place in the last four of the competition.
Even more interesting is how the ex-MLS shot stopper managed to remain calm for the save, despite the antics of the supporters at the away end where the shootout took place.
Speaking about the Blues’ performance after the game, Petrovic told Chelsea media: “It was a very tough game. We conceded an unlucky goal. We trust in ourselves and our jobs.
“Mischa scored in the last minute. After that, we had the patience. I want to congratulate the team. Everyone deserves it.”
“I don’t hear pressure. They need to score [the penalties]. I can be the hero. I just did my job. That’s it.”
