Brazil starlet, Endrick has confirmed he might have joined Chelsea if Real Madrid didn’t turn up to sign him last summer.
Last year, Madrid agreed to pay £52m for the attacker, who was just 16 years old at the time.
Now, 17, Endrick will still not be able to complete the transfer until 2024 when he turns 18, although an agreement is already in place with Palmeiras for the move.
Despite their interest in Endrick being common knowledge, Madrid seemed to be uninterested at some point last year, as they chased after Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, leaving the door open for clubs like Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain to make moves for the superstar.
Endrick has now revealed that he did in fact consider joining Chelsea because of his love for the city of London when it emerged Chelsea were an option for him, although Madrid were always his first choice.
“At one point, there was a lot of talk about Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe for Madrid and that was when there was strong interest from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain,” Endrick told The Athletic.
“Of course, they are big and important teams. I am very interested in them and they would be excellent options.
“I was attracted by the Premier League, the city of London and the fact that English is the economically dominant language in the world.
“And obviously Chelsea is a strong brand that has won two Champions Leagues.
“I was told that it rains a lot in London, but that wouldn’t be a problem because, as my father used to say, I always liked playing in the rain. But I always made it clear to my agent that my dream was Real Madrid.”
