There were moments I used to break tables and everything at Chelsea – Mourinho tells Mikel Obi why he got softer as a manager

Jose Mourinho has suggested that he may no longer be the crazy manager he used to be in his younger years.

Some ex-Chelsea players who worked with the AS Roma boss have all said he used to lose his rag during his first stint at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho recently appeared on the Obi One podcast, and when he was asked whether he still gives the same treatment to his current set of players at Roma, he replied: “One of the things I also say to my boys here in Roma today is that if I were exactly the same as I was in that Chelsea dressing room, they wouldn’t play.

“Because there were moments when I destroyed everything, massage tables in the air, but I knew that those guys would destroy everything when we returned to the pitch.

“You can only do it with some personalities, if you do it with the wrong guys in the second half they don’t even want the ball, they hide from each other.”
