Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that he doesn’t know how long Robert Sanchez will be on the sidelines, as the Spaniard recovers from a recent injury.
Sanchez suffered a knee injury in the 2-1 loss to Manchester United nearly two weeks ago, but the player decided to carry on with it. He then started the 2-0 loss against Everton, but couldn’t finish, and had to limp off at some point, with backup goalkeeper, Djordje Petrovic coming on as his replacement.
Petrovic also deputised for Sanchez during the weekend’s 2-0 win over Sheffield United, and did keep a clean sheet in the process, but in a worrying development, Pochettino has now claimed that he doesn’t know when his number one goalie will be back in between the sticks again.
“It is an injury that’s going to be for a few weeks, I don’t know if two, three, four, five or six,” the manager said in his pre-match press conference ahead of Chelsea’s Carabao Cup quarter-final against Newcastle on Tuesday.
“We will assess day-by-day to know how to follow it. His recovery will depend on him and the reaction of his knee and it is difficult to say in two or three weeks but we hope [he is back] as soon as possible.”
God is correcting our transfer mistakes, atleast we must get a senior gollie come january. May we realise too that Jackson is not upto it and should be replaced with osimhen
