Mauricio Pochettino has revealed he’s been following the progress of Chelsea youngster, Kendry Paez this season.
Paez is an incoming Chelsea player, who will join the club when he turns 18 in 2025.
The 16-year-old has impressed for club and country this season, and recently became the youngest South American player ever to score a goal in a FIFA World Cup qualifier after netting in Ecuador’s 2-1 win against Bolivia back in October.
Asked about his impression of the Independiente Del Valle player, Pochettino said at a press conference (via Evening Standard): “As I said for the [Club] World Cup. I have a long wait until I see him here!
“Of course, I know him. He is playing in the Ecuador national team. He was the youngest to make his debut. I follow the national teams, I follow them in South America, he is our player and I know him very well. He is a great talent.”
We should add that there’s already an agreement between Chelsea and Independiente Del Valle for Paez, and both sides are just waiting for the midfielder to turn 18 before the move is finalised.
