Joe Cole has claimed that Aston Villa midfielder, Douglas Luiz is arguably playing better football than Moises Caicedo at the moment.
The Blues signed Caicedo from Brighton for £115m over the summer, but the Ecuadorian is yet to meet expectations since his arrival.
On the other hand, Luiz is a player that has been instrumental to Villa’s rise to the top four this season. The Brazilian has been a rock in Unai Emery’s midfield, and it’s no surprise that Arsenal are now being linked with a potential move for the player.
There is belief however, that the Gunners will need to part with up to £100m to get Luiz from Villa after he signed a deal that keeps him contracted to Emery’s side until 2026, and Cole seems to share this view.
“If you’re looking at the price tag around them [Declan Rice, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandes], it has got to be in the ballpark,” the former Chelsea star told TNT Sports.
“He has been performing in the same league as them, performing better than Caicedo, arguably. Rice has been outstanding as well, as he has been.
“But he is in and around them numbers and he’s a huge asset for the club.”
