Paul Scholes has shared his two cents on the long-running debate of who’s the better player between Eden Hazard and Mohamed Salah.
The two players certainly have a place in the Premier League Hall of Fame due to the impact they have had.
Hazard spent seven years playing for Chelsea before joining Real Madrid in 2019, but before he left, he hit a lot of milestones, including winning the Premier League and the UEFA Europa League.
The Belgian struggled to replicate his Chelsea form at Real Madrid, where he spent four years, and was forced to retire from the sport some months ago, but his legendary status remains.
As for Salah, the Egyptian has been arguably Liverpool’s best player in recent memory, and one of the best in the league, so it’s no wonder he’s always compared with Hazard by many, especially rivals fans.
Scholes however, thinks that Hazard is just a little better than Salah because of the mere fact that more often than not, the Belgian carried Chelsea to the finish line by himself while he was in the EPL, unlike Salah, who has had to play alongside some great players like Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
He told Beyond the 90: “That’s tough that because Liverpool had a few that were good at the time. You think of Mane with him, Firmino with him was good.
“Hazard in that Chelsea team – unreal. Made a total difference to that team. I remember the FA Cup final against us. I think Hazard scored a penalty. He was the difference between the teams.
“So I think just because Liverpool had a few good players as well, I just think Hazard in that Chelsea team made them better. He was the better one team player.”
