Chelsea share the latest on Reece James, Robert Sanchez and Marc Cucurella ahead of Sheffield United meeting

Chelsea are set to be without the trio of Reece James, Marc Cucurella and Robert Sanchez for their game against Sheffield United on Saturday, after all three players sustained injuries earlier in the week.

James had to be subbed off in the first half of the defeat to Everton on Sunday due to a hamstring issue, before Cucurella and Sanchez also suffered a similar fate.

On Monday, Chelsea confirmed in a statement that James would now have to undergo rehabilitation at Cobham as a result of his latest injury, with some reports adding that the 23-year-old could be out for the next three months.

The club have now also confirmed that both Sanchez and Cucurella will miss the home game this weekend, with the left-back due to meet with foot and ankle specialists before next steps will be decided.

Sanchez has already undergone assessment for his knee problem, and will now have to get adequate treatment.

Chelsea’s official website also provided updates on ten other players as follows:

Trevoh Chalobah – continuing to undergo his rehabilitation programme.

Ben Chilwell – continuing to undergo his rehabilitation programme.

Carney Chukwuemeka – continuing to undergo his rehabilitation programme

Wesley Fofana – continuing to undergo his rehabilitation programme.

Lesley Ugochukwu – continuing to undergo his rehabilitation programme.

Noni Madueke – progressing with the reconditioning phase of his rehabilitation.

Romeo Lavia – returned to partial team training.

Malo Gusto – returned to full team training.

Christopher Nkunku – returned to full team training.
