Former Chelsea player, Chris Sutton has criticised Todd Boehly for the ongoing struggles of some of the players he signed for Chelsea in the last three transfer windows.

Boehly has splashed a little over £1b on new signings since he bought Chelsea from Roman Abramovich, but only a handful of them have done well.

Pochettino recently highlighted the level of struggle he’s currently going through in a bid to make Chelsea regular winners again by openly crying out for new signings in January after the Blues suffered a 2-0 loss at Everton, and while Sutton found the demand alarming, the BBC pundit has blamed Boehly for the issues his club are now dealing with.

“That is pretty alarming,” said Sutton on the It’s All Kicking Off podcast.

“Pochettino nailing those colours to his mast that he needs more players in at this point in time.

“I’d compare Todd Boehly, in terms of the players bought in, to a rich drunk guys at a sporting dinner who buys all the memorabilia.

“He wakes up the next morning and thought ‘I’ve bought all these things and don’t know what to do with them.’

“Pochettino is in place now to get the best out of this team and he is not doing it.

“It’s a bit like Championship manager. It was never going to be easy for Pochettino but it’s fair to say now we’re putting the boot into Manchester United and talking about their inconsistency, Chelsea have been so, so disappointing.”
