BBC pundit, Chris Sutton has labelled Chelsea the sixth-best team in London at the moment due to their current form.
The Blues are 12th on the Premier League table after back to back losses against Manchester United and Everton last week.
There is also now a 14-point gap between Mauricio Pochettino’s men and the top-four, and Sutton thinks they haven’t been scrutinised as much as they should, judging by the standards they’re known for.
“They have been so odd this season,” said Sutton on the It’s All Kicking Off podcast. “I think in many ways Pochettino has been getting away with it but you look at where they are in the league – they’re the sixth best team in London.
“Think about that, when was the last time Chelsea were the sixth best team in London?
“With the spend and it not coming together, I don’t know whether the pressure is on or not but they can’t keep tip-toeing through the season and people not putting them under scrutiny.
“In their recent past, they have been serial winners, huge winners, won all the big trophies in the last 20 years in the Abramovich era.
“Last year was disappointing and now people forget where Chelsea have been getting away with it this season – no European football, and that is a massive advantage.
“How do you judge a manager fairly? On whether they are improving the team – and have they improved that much.
“The one thing with Chelsea and the one thing they all have in common is that the owner has forced these players upon them and sort of said, ‘well, you’ll have to make the most of that.’”
