There is a general feeling among Chelsea players that Mauricio Pochettino has been disrespectful and insulting in his treatment of Thiago Silva, and that is according to reports.
Pochettino appointed Reece James captain, and Ben Chilwell his vice-captain ahead of the 2023-24 campaign, but the two players have hardly been able to play due to injuries.
In the absence of the pair however, the Argentine has opted against handing the captain’s armband to Silva, instead, giving the role to Conor Gallagher, and sometimes, Levi Colwill, who are far younger players than the Brazilian.
The Guardian claims that the Chelsea dressing room have been left baffled by the decision from Pochettino, and they think it is disrespectful to Silva, who is clearly a veteran of the sport.
It remains unclear whether the status quo will change any time soon, but we do know that Silva has previously stated that he doesn’t need the armband to be captain, which might suggest that he and Poch have had a chat about whatever has gone on with the captaincy this season.
