Chelsea are reportedly looking at signing a new forward player, as they aim to address their striking problems when the January transfer window opens.

Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney are the two leading names that have been linked with a potential transfer to Stamford Bridge next month, but the Guardian claims that a move for any of them in January is very unlikely for Chelsea.

The reason for this is because Osimhen and Toney will command significantly high fees and wages, which isn’t something Todd Boehly would like to do right now, as he wants to avoid violating Financial Fair Play rules.

Chelsea are instead, looking at former Brighton forward, Viktor Gyökeres, who now plays for Sporting Lisbon.

The 25-year-old moved to the Portuguese club in the summer after struggling for game time at the Amex. He however appears to have found his feet, having scored an impressive 14 goals from 17 matches across all competitions for his new club.

The Swede, who also has five assists so far, joined Sporting Lisbon for around £20.5m, although, we expect that they will ask for way more than that if they’re forced into letting him go midway into the 2023-24 campaign.
