Everton legend Phil Neville has urged Chelsea to stick with Mauricio Pochettino despite their struggles under the Argentine manager.

Poch joined Chelsea in the summer, after leaving Paris Saint-Germain.

The 51-year-old was expected to come in and help turn around the challenges facing the Blues on the pitch, and help nature some of the young talents in their squad.

While we can’t categorically say that this hasn’t been the case, progress has certainly been slow, if any, and fans are starting to lose their patience with the former Tottenham boss.

Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat against Everton on Sunday is the latest in the line of poor results from Pochettino’s men, and calls for his sack from fans have intensified, although Neville thinks he should stay and be given time to drill his tactics into the players.

Neville told NBC Sports: “When you look at the Chelsea team they’ve got talented young players, but they haven’t got players that know how to win games of football in the Premier League yet… I think this is a long, long project. They’ve got to stick with these young players. They’ve got to stick with this manager.”

Chelsea are currently 12th on the Premier League table, 14 points behind the top four after 16 matches.
