ESPN pundit, Steve Nicol has admitted he’s worried about Reece James, after the right-back picked up yet another injury.
The 23-year-old was involved from the start, as Chelsea played against Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.
James however, couldn’t stay to help his side to a win, after he was forced off with a hamstring problem in the first half of the game.
The Blues ended up losing the match 2-0, but fans are now more concerned about the injury problems that Chelsea have been facing since the start of last season.
James in particular, has now been unable to play up to half of a season without sustaining an injury for the past couple of campaigns.
The England international has already missed seven top flight matches with the same hamstring issue this season, and from all indication, he appears set for another extended spell on the sidelines.
Nicol was analysing the player’s injury troubles on ESPN after the game against Everton, and went on to reveal that the right-back may have gotten to a stage where the recurring health problems are beginning to take a toll on his psyche.
He said: “I don’t want to say this as a fact, but it’s kinda getting to the stage where you think there’s something going on in Reece James’ head whenever he feels anything.
“It’s just happened too often. That’s a bad place to be as a professional athlete.”
Marc Cucurella and Robert Sanchez also picked up injuries against Everton, with the left-back expected to be on the sidelines for a while before regaining full fitness again as well.
