Pep Guardiola has named Chelsea as one of the ‘exceptional teams’ in the Premier League.
The Manchester City boss made the claim while speaking ahead of his side’s trip to Luton Town this weekend.
Man City have had a difficult run of fixtures lately, and currently lie fourth on the Premier League table after failing to win any of their last four games.
City drew against Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham, before losing 1-0 to Aston Villa in midweek, and now, Pep thinks that all of those teams are top of the pile.
“We played top, top, top teams,” Guardiola said on Friday, when asked about his side’s struggles of late.
“Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham and Aston Villa right now are exceptional teams.
“It is what it is. It’s not the first time we have been in this position. In every season, we have had periods where we do not get results.
“Do you know how much we struggled last season? We were eight or nine points behind Arsenal, with all the injuries we had.”
Chelsea played out a thrilling 4-4 draw with Man City at Stamford Bridge, and to be honest, it is still the Blues’ best game of the season, but we’re not sure Mauricio Pochettino’s men have exactly pulled their weight this season yet.
