Gianfranco Zola has revealed that Eden Hazard wasn’t always the calm figure he seemed to be during football matches.
According to the Italian, Hazard was a thorn in the flesh to former coach, Maurizio Sarri during their time together at Stamford Bridge.
Sarri managed Chelsea under Roman Abramovich, in the 2018-19 season, and won the Europa League as the Blues finished third on the Premier League table. Hazard and Sarri both left the club after that season.
“He was the player that used to drive Maurizio crazy,” Zola told The Obi One Podcast of Hazard, who scored 21 goals that campaign.
“Because we used to come to training and the routine was that one.
“And so when Maurizio was starting training, Eden would go ‘OK coach’ and put his head down and be like that because he didn’t like repetition.
“He wanted to do different stuff and funny stuff because he was so good and could win games on his own.”
