Mauricio Pochettino has provided an update on the fitness of two Chelsea stars ahead of Sunday’s trip to Goodison Park.
The Blues will face Everton on Match week 16 after the midweek defeat to Manchester United.
Christopher Nkunku and Malo Gusto were absent from that 2-1 defeat due to their respective injury issues.
For Nkunku, his first Chelsea game remains a dream, as he continues to work on recovering from the knee issue he suffered before the season opener against Liverpool, having not played since the start of the season.
Gusto has deputised well for Reece James at right-back, but the France international is also a doubt for the upcoming fixture against Sean Dyche’s men, as his rehabilitation continues.
Speaking with the press on Friday, Pochettino spoke about the readiness of both players for this weekend’s game, and revealed that they’ll have to be assessed before a final decision is made.
“Still assessing [Christopher Nkunku] day by day, see tomorrow,” said Pochettino.
“I don’t believe that he will be involved but we need to assess day by day. We see also Malo Gusto but apart from that no (other updates).”
Chelsea have no fresh injury concerns, with the suspended Conor Gallagher expected back in midfield for this Sunday.
