Mauricio Pochettino has said that Chelsea’s inconsistencies will not go away immediately, and fans should expect it will hang around for some more.
The Blues remain rooted in 10th place on the Premier League table after suffering another defeat in midweek.
Manchester United beat Chelsea 2-1 at Old Trafford earlier in the week, much to the disappointment of fans.
To be fair to the sad fans, it wasn’t just the defeat that hurt, it was also that Chelsea didn’t look like much like a coordinated team.
A lot of investment has been thrown into Chelsea since Todd Boehly’s takeover from Roman Abramovich, but not much has changed, despite the summer appointment of a well-respected manager like Pochettino.
The Blues have already lost five league games this season, managing just 19 points from a possible 45, and Poch has now suggested that there will be more annoying times ahead.
“I think so,” the Argentine said when asked whether Chelsea’s inconsistencies will continue after the loss against United.
“That is a reason, I think to be more mature, as I say, we need time to build but that is true what you’re telling me, that is the reason why we’re having now.”
He later added: “Yes, it should be this.
“This period is why we need the full squad to help, at the moment, from the beginning of the season we have struggled with this.
“That is why is this type of period you play sometimes with a lack of energy.
“It’s true, we need to be more clinical and to take better decisions but that is football.
“It’s important to create the chances and then it’s different reasons why we didn’t score.”
