Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has given a great assessment of Mauricio Pochettino at the club.
Pochettino joined Chelsea ahead of the 2023-24 season after Graham Potter was sacked.
The Argentine has seen the Blues reach the quarter finals of the Carabao Cup, where they’ll play Newcastle United on December 19. Chelsea also sit 10th on the Premier League table after 14 matches, although one could argue that injuries have played a part in some of their poor displays so far.
Nkunku, who joined from RB Leipzig for £52m is yet to star for the Blues due to injury, while Romeo Lavia, who moved to Stamford Bridge from Southampton is also out injured, and is yet to kick a ball for the club.
It is believed that with everyone fit, Pochettino would be able to get the best out of his squad, and lead them back to the top of European football.
Zola recently spoke highly of the 51-year-old, whom he described as ‘perfect’ for his former club.
He told the Obi One podcast: “I think he is the perfect manager for us because he’s already worked before in situations like this.
“He worked with teams that were young with a lot of potential and he made them a very good team. I think he is the right man. We need to understand that a team is not formed in one week, two weeks or a month. It takes time…
“We cannot doubt the abilities of Mauricio. He’s a very, very good coach.”
