Mauricio Pochettino has revealed the motivational message he shared with his players during the 3-2 win against Brighton on Sunday.
The Blues had to dig deep to keep their lead, and eventually win the game after Conor Gallagher was shown a second yellow card— and then a red for fouling Billy Gilmour just before half-time.
Chelsea were already leading 2-1 when this happened, and things could have easily gone wrong, but instead, as the second half began, they kept their cool, and even managed to score a third goal.
Speaking after the win, Pochettino told Sky Sports: “I told the players at half-time [after Gallagher’s red card], this is a massive opportunity and challenge for us to show we are a real team…
“We competed really well, we scored another goal with one less, and then we won the game, so we are happy and we need to use this kind of victory to try to build our confidence.”
