Chelsea have now discovered who they will be playing against in the third round of the FA Cup this season.

The Blues have been paired up against Preston North End in their first game of the competition.

Chelsea will be hoping for a better outing in the third round this time after they were sent packing from the same stage last season.

It was Manchester City who were the Blues’ opponents on that occasion, with the game ending 4-0 in their favour. Pep Guardiola’s men also went on to win the tournament eventually, as they did the treble.

Matches for the third round of the FA Cup are billed to take place in January.

Chelsea are currently having an inconsistent season in the Premier League, but they have done well in the Carabao Cup so far, and will take on Newcastle United in the quarter finals next.
