‘Asking for problems’: Ziyech slams Chelsea owners

Hakim Ziyech has shared his displeasure with the transfer policy of Todd Boehly, following his 2022 takeover of the club from Russian Billionaire, Roman Abramovich.

Boehly has spent well over £1bn on signing new players since he assumed ownership at Stamford Bridge, but it hasn’t exactly paid off, with the Blues currently sitting in midtable in the Premier League, after finishing 12th last season.

Ziyech is one of many Chelsea stars that were forced to leave as a result of the over-bloated squad at the club, and the 30-year-old who now plays on loan at Galatasaray, has hit out at the management style of the new American owners at Chelsea.

“We had three teams there with top players,” the winger told Voetbal International.

“At a certain point we run out of patience. A selection with 40 players for one team is simply far too much and is asking for problems.”

On his failed move to Paris Saint-Germain, the Morocco International added: “Pff, Chelsea, we can talk about that for a long time.

“But the conclusion is that things did not turn out as we had hoped.

“It was a period full of coaching changes, nagging with the club management, a departure to Paris Saint-Germain that did not happen at the last minute and it was disappointing in terms of football.”
