Romeo Lavia is back training with his Chelsea teammates ahead of this Sunday’s Premier League meeting with Brighton.

The Belgian has been unable to play for the Blues after his £58m move from Southampton during the summer transfer window.

Lavia chose to join Chelsea despite interest from Liverpool.

Chelsea fans expected to see the 19-year-old line-up alongside Enzo Fernandez and fellow summer recruit, Moises Caicedo after his arrival in August, but that is yet to happen because of the long-term injury he picked up during training many weeks ago.

Lavia has however, taken his time to work on his fitness, and it appears that he is now nearing a return to Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

The midfielder was spotted training with his teammates in photos that were shared by the official Chelsea app on Thursday. His return may not happen this weekend, but there’s plenty optimism that it won’t take much longer now.

It would be difficult for Lavia to break into Pochettino’s starting XI, due to the type of players ahead of him, but we do have a feeling that the coach will find a way to use him.
