Andrey Santos is set to be recalled from his loan spell with Nottingham Forest after failing to play regularly for Steve Cooper’s side.
Santos has played just seven minutes of Premier League football since his loan move to Forest over the summer.
The situation hasn’t gone down well with Chelsea, who expected the Brazilian to get some valuable minutes under his belt before returning at the end of the season.
According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea have now decided to recall Santos to Stamford Bridge, and this is expected to happen in January, unless there’s a major change in the way things are for the player.
It remains unclear what Chelsea intend to do with Santos if he’s recalled. The 19-year-old could either be loaned out to another club in the Premier League, since the Blues have already exceeded their foreign loans limit, or kept at Stamford Bridge until next summer, and in which case, he would have to face stiff competition to play from the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Conor Gallagher, Moises Caicedo, Lesley Ugochukwu and Romeo Lavia for the rest of the season.
