BBC pundit, Chris Waddle has blamed Thiago Silva for his poor display during Saturday’s 4-1 defeat at the hands of Newcastle United.
Chelsea were very poor as a team, but some individuals were particularly too erratic at times, including Silva, who made a costly error that Joelinton capitalised on to make it 3-1 to the Magpies.
Speaking on the BBC’s Radio 5 Live during the game at St. James’ Park, Waddle couldn’t hide his disappointment in the 39-year-old defender.
He said: “Thiago Silva is the one who is the culprit. I don’t know what’s going through his head. He just loses his bearings. He plays a really sloppy ball and it is an easy, easy goal for Joelinton.”
Silva has since taken to his social media to apologise to both Chelsea fans and his teammates for his poor day at the office, stating that he felt ‘devastated’ by the defeat.
It’s a lot to take in for the fans, but hopefully, everyone can move on from the loss.
If there’s one player that deserves to be forgiven for his mistakes, it has to be Silva, who has been very brilliant for Chelsea since he joined from Paris Saint-Germain in 2020.
This is just a temporary setback for the team, and we’re sure they will bounce back better.
