Mauricio Pochettino has warned Cole Palmer not to get carried away with his good displays for Chelsea, and the accolades that have followed them.
Palmer joined the Blues from Manchester City over the summer, after finding it difficult to break into Pep Guardiola’s star-studded side.
The 21-year-old has however made it abundantly clear he can hold his own in any team, thanks to his brilliant displays for the Blues since he joined them.
Not only has Palmer picked up four assists for Pochettino’s side so far in this season, he has also scored four penalty goals, which shows he’s quite confident, but while his coach is happy with his form, the Argentine warns he cannot relent.
Asked about the England international on Friday, Pochettino told reporters: “Maybe you read my mind because we were talking in the last few weeks to keep players at their best.
“It’s about keeping them outside of their comfort zone, after playing a few games well, because human beings, it’s fine. Our responsibility is to push him every day.
“That is why we sign him, because we believe in him but Man City won the Champions League and it’s never easy to compete with big players, maybe with us, in this project it is easier. To keep pushing him and all the players to be their best.”
