Chelsea have seen some of their players reach new levels of performance this season.

Cole Palmer, Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Jackson are some of the players who have received plaudits for their impressive performances since the start of the season, but many will argue that one Chelsea star hasn’t quite been given the amount of respect he deserves.

Once on the verge of getting sold, Conor Gallagher has morphed into a solid midfielder at Chelsea.

The 23-year-old has shown great maturity and improvement in his game this season, which would explain why he has played every game under Mauricio Pochettino.

Gallagher’s high-pressing, together with his ability to throw in the right tackle at the right time, have endeared him to many Chelsea fans, and now, BBC pundit, Michael Brown has admitted that he has been blown away by how good the England midfielder has gotten this season.

Writing in his column for BBC Sport, he said: “There are lots of clubs that wanted him. Ultimately he decided to stay and is getting his rewards. He has got an unbelievable attitude and an unselfishness that is infectious when you have flair players who do not always do the other side of it.

“He covers an incredible amount of ground and the work rate is there. He has backed himself and no wonder we are seeing an improvement in Chelsea. Why would you leave when you feel there is a chance?”
