Football journalist, Ben Jacobs has shared what he knows regarding the rumours that Chelsea are in the race to sign Napoli winger, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia next summer.
The Georgian is one of the most important players in the Napoli squad after impressing for the Serie A outfit last season, with 32 goal involvements across 34 league matches.
Naturally, many clubs have started to follow the progress of the 22-year-old, who has great dribbling ability and speed, with Chelsea named as one of those teams.
Jacobs has however downplayed claims that Chelsea want the winger, adding that Napoli wouldn’t want to lose him and Osimhen in the same year, with the Nigerian more likely to be sold.
He wrote on ‘X’: “Understand there’s nothing major in the Chelsea links with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Loads of top clubs well aware of his talent, including Manchester City and Newcastle United. Napoli want to keep Kvaratskhelia, and don’t plan to lose him and Victor Osimhen in 2024. Latter more likely to leave.”
Like we pointed out, there’s little sense in Chelsea wanting Kvaratskhelia when they already have good players like Mykhailo Mudryk and Raheem Sterling playing in the same position, when they could invest that money in another part of the squad.
For context, Kvaratskhelia is valued at more than £100m.
