Kai Havertz has claimed that part of the reasons he’s struggling to find his feet at Arsenal is because of his history with Chelsea.
The 24-year-old played for Chelsea for three years before swapping the Blue jersey for red and white.
The German, who Arsenal paid a whopping £65m for in the summer has however, not repaid that trust yet, after scoring just once in more than 15 matches across all competitions this season. In fact, Havertz’s only goal for the Gunners came from the penalty spot, and criticisms have trailed his move to the Emirates Stadium.
In a recent chat with the official Arsenal website however, Havertz claimed that he believes that the fans of his new club are yet to fully accept him because of his history with Chelsea.
He said: “It’s always tough when you come from Chelsea, because they are big rivals, so it can take weeks to get some trust from the fans.”
After Havertz left Chelsea, the Blues spent about half of his transfer fee to sign Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal, and the 22-year-old has been much-better than his predecessor so far. He already has six goals in his first 11 Premier League games, and could surpass that when Chelsea take on Newcastle United on Saturday.
