Ex-Chelsea stars, John Mikel Obi and Florent Malouda have named Deco as the best passer of the ball at the club during their time.
Deco joined Chelsea from FC Barcelona in 2008, but he didn’t spend that much time at the club, playing there for just two years before he moved to Fluminense in Brazil.
The now 46-year-old however, did make an impact while at Chelsea, as both Mikel and Malouda, who appeared as a guest on his Obi One podcast agreed.
“Yeah Deco, the touch. The way he receives the ball, he never controls the ball with his inside step,” Mikel said.
“He always put his studs on the ball. He’s just special, because when his foot is on the ball he can move it wherever he likes.
“He could dribble past a player with his foot on the ball. It was special to watch Deco play. He was another player who came to the team from Barcelona, he has to play.”
Mikel and Malouda also hailed John Terry and Frank Lampard as other fine passers of the ball at Chelsea.
