Chelsea have set a new record following Cole Palmer’s debut for England in their 2-0 victory over Malta on Friday night at Wembley.

According to Opta, Palmer is the 13th Chelsea player to appear for England under Gareth Southgate; the most players from a single team to have featured for the Three Lions under the current manager.

Palmer came off the bench for the final half-hour and lined up on the left of the three behind striker Harry Kane.

England immediately improved with Palmer looking right at home, producing several clever touches and passes during his time on the pitch.

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher started in central midfield for England alongside Jordan Henderson but was withdrawn at half-time.
