With Chelsea 4-3 down against Manchester City, Cole Palmer scored a late penalty to ensure the Blues secured a 4-4 draw against the defending champions.
“I am a player who wants the ball….anywhere,” Palmer told The Guardian.
“When I saw the ref give it, I thought: ‘It’s my time,’” Palmer added.
Palmer had a word with his teammate Raheem Sterling, another former City player, and told him that, yes, he wanted it. “Raz was like: ‘Fine,’” Palmer added.
Asked about his celebration after scoring a late equaliser against his former club Manchester City, Palmer said: “I spent 15 years at City.
“I can’t really go and celebrate how I would [normally] celebrate if I have scored a 95th-minute equaliser because it would have been disrespectful, so I just decided to do a shrug. I don’t know why.”
