France U22 manager Thierry Henry has warned Chelsea midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu that he might not receive call ups to the France U21 team if his playing time doesn’t improve.

Chelsea signed the 19 year old midfielder from French club Rennes last summer. While he has started 3 games in the Carabao Cup for Chelsea, Ugochukwu has made just one start and seven substitute appearances in the Premier League.

Henry said: “His situation is different (to Johann Lepenant’s) at Chelsea because he has players like Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo in front of him, but he finds himself not playing, and, these days, these players don’t even play with the reserve team to find some rhythm.

“At the start of the season, you can make use of the pre-season, but those benefits disappear and I hope that he’s going to be able to last.”
