Harry Redknapp has named Thiago Silva as Chelsea’s best footballer, despite the array of talents the Blues have splashed money on, over the last three transfer windows.

Raheem Sterling, Cole Palmer, Axel Disasi, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo are some of the big talents that the Todd Boehly-led ownership of Chelsea have recruited since they arrived at the club, and to be fair, all of them have played very well.

Palmer, for example, has been described by many pundits as Chelsea’s ‘main man’, due to his reading of the game, and overall goal contributions, which currently stands at four goals and four assists in nine matches.

Conor Gallagher has also been hailed as the most important player in Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea due to his incredible energy, but for former Tottenham coach, Redknapp, Silva is the man.

The Brazilian joined the Blues in 2020 after leaving Paris Saint-Germain, and helped them to win their second UEFA Champions League trophy a year later.

Silva is already 39, but he remains a top centre back— and Redknapp is in awe of his longevity.

Speaking under his column for The Sun, the ex-Spurs coach wrote: “Chelsea have spent a fortune in recent years but they haven’t spent it well. Silva is still their best player and he is nearly 40!”

Silva will be out of contract by June next year, but we are sure many Chelsea fans would love to see him remain at the club— and why not, if he is still as good as he is right now?
