Conor Gallagher has stated that he has no worry that his contract situation at Chelsea will be sorted out, as he enters the final 18 months of his current deal.
The 23-year-old seemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, following the recruitment of a number of high-profile midfielders over the last three transfer windows, including Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, Lesley Ugochukwu, and Carney Chukwuemeka.
There were also a number of clubs that expressed interest in Gallagher over the last summer transfer window, but Mauricio Pochetino opted to keep the high-pressing midfielder, and the decision is one that has yielded fruits, with the England international proving to be one of Chelsea’s best players so far this season.
With just over a year remaining on his current Chelsea deal, there are concerns that Chelsea may lose the hardworking player, but he has now suggested that discussions are ongoing to work things out in that regard.
“I’m sure that will get sorted out, everyone knows Chelsea is my club and I love playing for them. The fans are brilliant and I’m loving right now and I’m sure it will get itself sorted out,” said Gallagher.
Asked about the rumours surrounding his Chelsea career during the summer, the midfielder added: “It was a crazy period in terms of ins and outs at Chelsea in the summer.
“I had conversations with the manager and he expressed that he liked me as a player and I was in his plans and I was really happy with that.”
