Once a Blue, always a Blue: You won’t believe what Kovacic did during Chelsea’s draw with Man City

Mateo Kovacic may have left Chelsea, but it doesn’t look like Chelsea has quite left him.

The Croatian, who spent a few years at Chelsea before moving to Manchester City over the summer, was introduced in the second half during the 4-4 clash between both sides on Sunday.

After his arrival on the pitch, Kovacic did impress for the visitors, but what caught the eye of some fans was his reaction to Cole Palmer’s equalising goal in the match.

With Chelsea trailing 4-3 to City, Palmer stepped up to take a 95th minute penalty after Armando Broja was fouled by Ruben Diaz, and the 21-year-old made no mistake from the spot, as he fired the ball past the diving Ederson to make sure that the Blues got something from the game.

However, as soon as the ball hit the net, while the rest of the Man City players were obviously downcast, Kovacic seemed to forget he no longer plays for Chelsea, and could be spotted clinching his fingers in excitement in a now viral video on the Internet.

To be fair, not many are sure if Kova’s reaction was one of excitement or of sadness, but it certainly looked like the former was the case, and we’re really hoping the Man City faithful can forgive him— after all, it’s difficult to become anything else once you have adorned the Chelsea colours.
