Liverpool hero, Jamie Carragher has claimed it may still be too early to count Chelsea as favourites to finish in the top four this season, despite admitting the Blues have been more impressive in the last few matches.
Chelsea fought back three times to earn a point against Manchester City at home on Sunday, thanks to goals from Thiago Silva, Raheem Sterling, Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer.
The result sees the Blues crawl back into the top half of the Premier League, with 10 points now separating them from 4th-placed Tottenham after 12 games.
And while speaking on Sky Sports after Sunday’s 4-4 draw with Man City, Micah Richards expressed optimism that Chelsea can still finish in a Champions League spot if they keep pushing for it, but Carragher had a differing opinion.
The ex-defender said: “Have to remember how early it is in the season. Three or four weeks ago everyone wrote Man United off from being in the top four and now they’re only four or five points off it.
“I expect Chelsea to get better with Pochettino. I don’t think they will get top four but should still have a fight with it.
“They are not competing with the best teams going for the top four and they will drop points as well. People in those positions drop points, there is still a lot for them to do.”
