‘This isn’t right’: Jamie Carragher disappointed with penalty decision

Jamie Carragher has blasted the decision to award Manchester City a penalty during Sunday evening’s clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The visitors took the lead midway through the first half after Erling Haaland converted a penalty that was supposedly awarded because the Norwegian was pulled down by Marc Cucurella.

However, after several replays, it was clear that the two players pulled each other, and in fact, it was the City striker that began the pulling. And while speaking about the decision on Sky Sports, Carragher said it wasn’t a good one.

The former Liverpool defender said: “This isn’t right… no, no, no. This isn’t right.

“The VAR has looked the end of the tussle. He needs to look at the start. This is very harsh.”

Chelsea later took the lead in the first half, with Raheem Sterling finding the net after some smart play, but the visitors pegged them back through Akanji. Similar scenes player out in the second period, and in the end, both sides shared the spoils, as the game ended 4-4.
