Mauricio Pochettino has hailed Chelsea’s 4-4 draw with Manchester City as an ‘amazing’ one.

The Blues welcomed Pep Guardiola’s men to Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening in search of their first win against them since 2021.

Man City were the ones who took the lead in the first half, however, as Erling Haaland slotted home from the penalty spot after he was fouled by Marc Cucurella.

Chelsea hit back through Thiago Silva just four minutes later, before Raheem Sterling made it 2-1 eight minutes before the break.

Manuel Akanji scored City’s equaliser just before halftime, with Haaland netting a second shortly after the restart.

The Blues fought back to make it 3-3 through Nicolas Jackson, but City took the lead again, and this time, it was Rodri who banged it in in the 86th minute.

The game looked like it was going to end in another defeat for Chelsea, but Cole Palmer spared their blushes, as he kept a calm head to clinically dispatch a penalty in the 95th minute after Armando Broja was clumsily fouled by Ruben Diaz.

Speaking with the BBC after the game, Pochettino said he was pleased with how brave his side was despite coming up against a team as good as Man City.

“It was amazing that is why the Premier League is most unbelievable league in the world and everybody wants to be involved in an amazing game,” he said.

“It is difficult to talk as everyone wants to say how excited the game was. Man City is the best team in the world and Chelsea were brave tried to go for three points.

“I think it was an amazing evening.”
