Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has explained why Manchester City sold Cole Palmer to Chelsea in the summer.

Palmer has impressed since joining Chelsea but Guardiola insists he harbours no regrets over the decision to sell one of English football’s most exciting young talents.

Palmer will face his former club Manchester City for the first time this weekend when Chelsea take on Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

“Really pleased,” said Guardiola when asked to assess Palmer’s recent performances. “The reason why was that, he wanted game time.

“He has it so congratulations. He is a guy who came from the academy, he’s having success because it’s good for him and wish him the best.”

“Congratulations for Chelsea and him,” Guardiola added when asked if was a shame Palmer was not still representing City.
