Former West Ham defender, Anton Ferdinand has warned Levi Colwill he needs to mature very quickly because opposition players will now begin to look for ways to rile him up after what he did during Chelsea’s 4-1 win against Tottenham on Monday.
Colwill was involved in a bust-up with Pape Matar Sarr at one point during the game, with centre referee, Michael Oliver having to show the duo a yellow card each, for their behaviour.
Chelsea boss, Mauricio Pochettino also took the 20-year-old off at half-time, and brought in Marc Cucurella instead, in a bid to avoid his side going down to 10-men like Tottenham.
The incident is one of the many crazy moments from the game on Monday, and now, Ferdinand thinks it could become a major problem for Colwill moving forward.
The ex-West Ham star said on the FIVE podcast: “Mark my words, players watching that will target him now, fact. ‘We can get at him, we can wind him up.’ That’s going to start happening, so he’s going to need to mature very, very quickly.”
Colwill is expected to return against Manchester City this weekend, although Poch could decide to stick with Cucurella, who appears to have a cooler head considering the nature of the Opponent they’ll be up against.
