Enzo Fernandez had a great game during Chelsea’s 4-1 win against Tottenham on Monday. In fact, he started the Blues’ comeback after earning the penalty from which they equalised.
That is why it was a surprise to some that the Argentine was subbed off by Mauricio Pochettino with just 57 minutes of play gone.
However, according to Argentine media outlet, TyC Sports, the reason for the substitute was more precautionary than tactical.
The outlet claims that Enzo sustained an injury, and signalled to the bench to be replaced, hence the decision to take him off.
It was reportedly something in his knee, although, it doesn’t seem to be serious, and he is still in line to play against Manchester City on Sunday.
“Thank you for your good messages, I am working on my recovery to get to the weekend in the best way,” wrote Enzo after the win against Tottenham, in what seems to be a conformation of the report.
