Chelsea claimed a famous 4-1 win against bitter rivals, Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night. What makes the win even more pleasant is that it happened in their own backyard.
To be fair, the Blues largely played the game with a numerical advantage over their hosts, who were down to nine men after 55 minutes on the clock.
Cristian Romero was shown a straight red for fouling Enzo Fernandez inside his own box, with Cole Palmer stepping up to successfully finish off the resulting penalty. Destiny Udogie also saw a red card after receiving a second yellow for a poor tackle on Raheem Sterling in the 55th minute.
Spurs tried to continue with their high defensive line despite their drop in numbers, and did succeed in keeping Chelsea away for a while until Nicolas Jackson stepped up his game, and scored three goals in the latter stages of the clash and leave them in utter disappointment.
Chelsea got an important win from Tottenham, and are now 10th on the Premier League table, but John Terry wasn’t happy with some of the things that happened during the game.
The former Chelsea captain, pointed to a first-half incident in particular, which saw Romero getting away without a booking after kicking out at Levi Colwill.
The Englishman wrote on his official ‘X’ handle: “How is that not a Red Card ? Wow, That’s a disgrace, you can’t just kick someone!”
Romero did get what he deserved eventually, and we’re sure Terry would have loved to see his former team continuing their winning tradition against Spurs.
